This week we purchased a loaf of Trader Joe's Dark Pumpernickel Tuscan Bread. When I opened it, a few slices inside the loaf I found a large piece of hard plastic baked right into the loaf. The plastic was a bit melted, as it entered the product during the dough or flour stage, before baking.
I took the bread back, the TJ's person (they said they were the manager), would do a report on it. That was Monday, December 4th, and I have not seen any movement on warning people on this product.
I warned friends on Twitter and Facebook on Monday.
News reports show that Trader Joe's have (or may) had a problem with pieces of plastic (and even glass) in their food in November 2017. These products were ordered off the shelve. This is the first time I have seen the problem in their bread products.
The warning is simple, please take care in buying any Trader Joe's baked products. Warn your friends and family who shop at Trader Joe's to watch out for this problem.
Hopefully, Trader Joe's will take on this issue and get to the bottom to where the problem is occurring. The pictures below show the plastic we found in our bread.
